The Neuse River provides an abundant source of water that is treated using state-of-the-art technology to produce high quality drinking water.

Water backs up the Contentnea Creek and inundates a few homes near the creek in Grifton. Water surrounds homes in Tick Bite and may cut off residents. Small streams across Lenoir, southern Pitt and northern Craven Counties flood secondary roads and may affect some homes.

The Neuse watershed contains 77 incorporated municipalities, including all or portions of the cities of Raleigh, Durham, Smithfield, Wilson, Goldsboro, New Bern and Havelock; it also includes an abundant number of towns including Butner, Wake Forest, Cary, Clayton and Kinston.
