It wasn’t anything you did, or happened to you. I’m gay and I absolutely was born this way, I grew up somewhere where gay people didn’t exist or maybwell have not have. I had no experience of LGBT people, knew no LGBT people, saw no representation on tv or in books – and yet, gay.

There are gay men that believe only men can be born with same sex attraction and that bi women and lesbians choose it. There are cis gays/lesbians that hate trans people. Straight trans people that think gays are disgusting.

I don’t think what you want is to be straight, as in wishing an attraction didn’t exist, but you wish you were "accepted" in mainstream society. Your safety is the #1 concern people in this community will have for you regardless of orientation.
